The 3rd Party

November is coming soon and another election is almost here, and in only 2 more years, we will have another Presidential election. Will it include another vote for whom you decide is the lesser of 2 evils, based on the propaganda of a bunch of lying politicians?
We all remember the Presidential election of 2004. That was a perfect example of voting for the lesser of 2 evils. It was hard to choose between Bush and Kerry, because they both sucked. But the current state of the nation was so bad that we had to vote for Kerry in hopes that we could get Bush out of office. Even though Bush got re-elected, he cannot run again (yay!). But we still have elections where we have to choose between two bad candidates. Since we do not have to worry about Bush anymore, here are some tips for the upcoming elections.
There is another option, and that is the 3rd Party. Some that consider themselves the 3rd party are the Green Party, the Libertarian Party, and the Socialist Party. Most peple who stereotype themselves as either Democrat or Republican argue that voting for a 3rd party candidate is useless. Even though that candidate has a slim chance of winning, it is not a wasted vote. It is a preparation for the future.
If the 3rd party candidate does not win the election but gets more votes that previous elections, the news will talk about it and the party will get more publicity for future votes. For example, if a party gets 5% of the popular vote one election, and then 10% the next, people will start to recognize this and take action. I bet many feel bad on the inside about choosing between Democrats and Republicans, and that is why it is up to us to motivate them to stand up for what they believe in, just like we do.
If the common citizens do not recognize the growth of a 3rd party, politians will. Democrats and Republicans don't want to have a 3rd party because it will reduce their chances of winning elections from 1/2 to 1/3. Once they see what we have voted for, they will change their platforms to be more like this 3rd party to win the votes of people who like what that party stands for. This will be a good thing because it gives us more control over who and what we vote for and the power to change our current political parties.
If there becomes 3 parties, even if you do not like what any of those parties stand for, building another political party paves the road for the growth of even more options. The government will see that people like to have more options for voting, and might agree with us and promote this new idea.
Don't you want to stop voting for what you feel unsure about and start voting for what you really believe in? Don't you want a better political system as well as better candidates? Don't you want to control your own government and provide our country with a better future? If you are old enough to vote, please vote for the 3rd party, and even if you are under 18, you can still express your political point of views with signs, bumper stickers, etc.
With the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, and the pollution of our environment, it is time we make a change.
